The Renovation of Kirk's highlights the beginning phase of the Lacy Building's makeover. Kirk's Hardware has changed only in name, but its purpose had been the same since the grand opening of Griffin Brothers Hardware in 1889. The figures in this piece have the challenge before them: Modernize yet respect its legacy; Repair what it broken yet restore it to its original condition and quality; Restore but restore to which original condition-which decade? Essentially, transform the space, yet maintain its identity.  If  every transformation in life, could only be so well planned, we might never lose of who we are along the way.
